Camera FTP upload settings

Any camera, recorder or phone that sends over SFTP, FTPS or FTP can send into a project as it shoots. These are the settings it asks for, under the names cameras use.

Server: ftp.filmdistrictdubai.com
SFTP: Port 2022
FTPS and FTP: Port 21, passive

Before you start

An FDD Transfers project with this camera added. The app gives the camera its own user name and password.
Wi-Fi on set, or your phone’s hotspot.
The camera’s latest firmware: FTP fixes come often.

SFTP Recommended

Where it is on the camera

Sony

Wi-Fi

On the camera: MENU → Network → Wi-Fi → Access Point Set.
Pick the Wi-Fi network (or your phone’s hotspot) and enter its password.
Wait for the Wi-Fi icon to show at the top of the screen.

FTP settings

MENU → Network → FTP Transfer → FTP Transfer Func.

Load settings from the card

MENU → Network → FTP Transfer → FTP Transfer Func. → Save/Load FTP Settings → Load

Send by itself

MENU → Shooting → Image Quality/Rec → Proxy Setting → Proxy Recording → On (a small copy of every clip).
MENU → Network → FTP Transfer → FTP Transfer Func. → Auto FTP Transfer → On.
Transfer Target → Proxy Only.
FTP Function → On.

Canon

Wi-Fi

On the camera: MENU → Network settings → Network → Connection settings.
Choose Wi-Fi, pick the network (or your phone’s hotspot) and enter its password.

FTP settings

MENU → Network settings → FTP transfer (Content Transfer on cinema bodies)

Load settings from the card

MENU → Network settings → Connection settings → Load from card

Send by itself

Turn on proxy (sub) recording in the recording settings.
MENU → Network settings → FTP transfer → Auto transfer → Enable.

Nikon

Wi-Fi

On the camera: MENU → Network → Connect to FTP server → Network settings.
Choose Wi-Fi, pick the network (or your phone’s hotspot) and enter its password.

MENU → Network → Connect to FTP server

Load settings from the card

MENU → Network → Options → Load settings from card

Send by itself

MENU → Network → Connect to FTP server → Options → Auto send → On.
