How-to

Install FDD Transfers as an app

FDD Transfers runs in the browser, and you can also install it: it gets its own icon and opens in its own window, like any other app. Nothing to download from a store.

Short answer: On a computer, use Chrome or Edge’s Install button in the address bar, or Safari’s File, Add to Dock. On an iPhone, Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, Chrome’s menu, then Install.

Why install it

  • One tap from the home screen, Dock or Start menu, instead of finding a browser tab.
  • Its own window, without the browser’s address bar and tabs.
  • On an iPhone, the app’s notifications only work once it’s installed.

Windows

Chrome

Open transfers.filmdistrictdubai.com. Click Install at the right of the address bar, or the menu (⋮), Cast, save and share, Install page as app.

Edge

Open the site. Click the menu (…), Apps, Install this site as an app.

On Windows there’s also the desktop app, which can upload over two internet connections at once.

Mac

Safari (macOS Sonoma or later)

Open the site, then choose File, Add to Dock, and click Add.

Chrome or Edge

The same as on Windows: Install in the address bar, or from the menu.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the site in Safari

    transfers.filmdistrictdubai.com

  2. Tap Share

The square with an arrow, at the bottom (or the top on iPad).

  3. Tap Add to Home Screen

Scroll down the list if you don’t see it. Keep Open as Web App on, then tap Add.

Android

  1. Open the site in Chrome

    transfers.filmdistrictdubai.com

  2. Tap the menu (⋮)

At the right of the address bar.

  3. Tap Install

Under Add to home screen or Install app, depending on your Chrome version. Then tap Install.

Removing it

Remove it like any app: long-press the icon on a phone, or right-click it in the Start menu or Dock. Your projects and files stay in your account.

Common questions

Is it the same as the website?
Yes. It’s the same app with the same account, just in its own window.
Does it take up space?
Very little: it’s a shortcut to the site with an icon, not a separate download.
Do I need the app to receive files?
No. Anyone you share with opens the link in their browser.
