How-to

How to share a video with a link

Upload the video once and send a link by any app. They watch it in the browser, download the original if you let them, and you stay in control of the link.

Short answer: Drop the video in, open its menu and choose Share, or copy the link. Send it by any app. For more control (view only, a password, an expiry date), create the link from the Share window instead.

The quick way: one tap

  1. Drop the video in

Drop it on your projects: a project named after the file is made at once, and the upload starts. On a phone, tap Upload.

  2. Share or copy the link

In the file’s menu, Share opens your phone’s or computer’s own share options, so the link goes straight to WhatsApp, Messages or Mail. Copy link puts it on the clipboard instead.

  3. Done

The link lasts 30 days. Share the same file again while it has more than a week left and you get the same link, not a new one.

More control: the Share window

From a project’s Share window, a link can be:

SettingWhat it does
View onlyThey can watch but not download: good for a rough cut.
View and downloadThey can watch and download the original.
View and uploadThey can send files back into a folder you choose: good for collecting footage from a client or crew.
PasswordOnly people with the password can open it.
ExpiryHow long it works. It stops working after that.
MessageA note shown at the top of the page they open.

The window lists every link with how many downloads (or uploads) it’s had. Turn one off and it stops working at once.

Sharing many videos at once

Share a folder instead of a file. They see every video in it, can play any of them, and get Download all. In Chrome and Edge on a computer, that saves into a folder they pick, with the subfolders kept. On an iPhone, each file loads in the page and Save opens the share sheet, so it goes to Photos or Files.

Common questions

Can I share a video without them downloading it?
Yes: make the link View only. They can watch it in the browser but there’s no download button.
Can someone send me a video with a link?
Yes: create a View and upload link to a folder and send it to them. What they send lands in that folder, with no account needed.
What happens when the link expires?
It stops opening. The video stays in your project, and you can make a new link any time.
